Brief Explanation
The film opens with a surprising claim: Finland is Europe’s sexiest country. Paired with romantic imagery of Finland, it goes on to explain Finnish sexual culture with a humorous and ironic tone. But we also learn that there is some truth to the opening statement. The film explains how many aspects of Finnish culture actually contribute to good, safe and respectful sex: Finns are comfortable with nudity, take pride in gender equality and don’t think of sex or condom use as taboos. The film presents its claims with humor: it pokes fun at Finnish stereotypes and uses funny archival footage. It goes on to establish that the qualities that make Finland good place to live, also make Finland’s sexual culture great. The film celebrates Finns’ informal attitude toward sex and educated safe sex practices, and presents Finnish culture from a whole new angle.
