Write a short summary of what happens in the film
To Give More is a trans-generational drama, where an unexpected relationship arises when two people on each side of life meet in a common interest, days before Christmas. A young girl awakens the memories of the youthful adventures of her older relative. Time and space synchronizes, redesigns and result in a magical moment between the two. In front of her, and her only, he unfolds a story about life, love and loss. A story about the importance of repairing your own mistakes, and to forgive oneself when things go wrong. And how a gift can give courage to truly follow your inner voice. To feed your hunger and to live your life. Hopefully to the fullest. By staying true to yourself, regardless of the inevitable emotional cost, it will always be worth it.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
Elkjøp is the largest retailer of home-electronics in the Nordics. In previous years, they have been trapped in a price and assortment war with its competitors. This year, they wanted to rise above this, and stir emotions in order to increase penetration in the market. Elkjøp has the vision to invite everyone to the amazing world of technology. And by using a product from their wide product range, and let it come to life as a communication vehicle across generations, we could show how a gift can be more than a gift. Since technology has the beautiful possibility to connect people, even offline, we could urge people to give something more, more than just a gift. Because Christmas will always be the best opportunity to bring people closer together.
Tell the jury anything relevant about the direction. Do not name the director.
When choosing a production partner to collaborate with on this project, we searched for a personality with experience in advertising but love for full-length storytelling. We had more references when writing the script to TV-series, classic movies and books, than from previous ads. The story is three dimensional, and the storylines needed to interweave in a clear way. Even though we aimed higher than a 30 seconds ad, the story needed to come across on shorter lengths as well. It was important to find a director that multiplied with us – someone with a magical touch, and a great sense of cinematic storytelling. The budget was compromised, so it’s safe to say that this project is fueled by pure engagement and a deep love for putting emotional stories out in the world.
