Write a short summary of what happens in the film
It’s night. Inside a hangar the light is very dim. After a few moments, we recognize iconic Porsche models from every decade standing here. The silent is total.
All of a sudden, the old radio of a 911 goes on and starts „You really got me“ by The Kinks. The song sounds hollow in the huge space. And then, one by one, the other Porsches also come “alive”. Their radio systems join in, playing the same song, and creating one of a kind jam session that fills the hall.
After a pause, one last car parked in the darkest corner joins in. Its shapes look totally unknown. We see the futuristic dashboard, then back to the exterior where a red stripe lits up. The flashy Taycan is soon set to epically drive off into the darkness.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The launch of the Taycan, the first all-electric Porsche model ever, was one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for the whole automotive industry.
The task was to show the world that this car is only the latest chapter of a glorious history. That it is a 100% true Porsche, since it definitely shares the same brand’s soul as any other model. That the only difference is the way it’s propelled, while its DNA still remains 100% Porsche.
Tell the jury about the choice of music track.
The task is to introduce the new Taycan, the very first all-electric Porsche model, in an epic yet emotional way. The idea is to depict this car as the latest chapter of a history made of real icons, all of them sharing the same Porsche „soul“.
And music plays a crucial role in the story-telling, since it’s the element that connects all Porsche models together, and allow them to hand the baton to the newest one – the Taycan.
So we first needed to pick a legendary track in order to properly celebrate this event – and „You really got me“ by The Kinks sounded just the perfect one in terms of timeless fame, unmatchable energy, contagious pace and – of course – suitable lyrics.
We then progressively remixed the song to turn it into a modern version, setting the tempo along the whole video.
