Write a short summary of what happens in the film
What happens when you are alone in the office?
The film “Lonely clients” gives us a glimpse into that world. We see businessmen and businesswomen in a landscape of vast, due to corona painfully deserted offices.
They are alone. And they are bored.
The feeling of loneliness and utter boredom manifests in the music, the original song “All my myself” by Eric Clapton, as our protagonists start acting increasingly strange. It is crystal clear: they have absolutely nothing to do and bored out of their mind.
The message:
What better chance could there be for anyone to get a great business deal or snatch a client?
Visit them. Before someone else does.
Using the most climate friendly way to travel: by train.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The film aired in the end of summer 21 – a time in Germany when covid numbers were down and life picked up again.
This also showed in the increasing number of travelers returning to German Rail – except for business travelers.
While lots of companies reopened their offices, the regular staff was hesitant to return from home office, leaving the decision makers with no one around to boss over, sick of video conferences and a lot of free time.
A rare opportunity for any businessman or -woman to get a great business deal. At least, if they would travel to an actual in person meeting, relieving lonely decision makers from their boredom.
