Write a short summary of what happens in the film
At a party, a man and a woman is fighting over what record to listen to. They both get increasingly annoyed, until they face off in front of the stereo where they end up staring baffled at each other. We fast forward many years and see them as old people, standing the exact same way. The man looks confused at the woman as she plugs in his earphones. He smiles when the song from the party many years earlier starts to play, and he asks her for her name. She responds in the same way she did the first time they met.
Tell the jury about the choice of music track.
In Joy Division's song "Love Will Tear Us Apart", vocalist Ian Curtis sings about two people who've loved each other so much that they've grown apart. Although the late Curtis was struggling with a quite different darkness than the characters in our film, the song neatly embodies the sentimental feeling of the inevitable loss that one day will follow love.
Boney M's "Brown Girl in the Ring" is a cheerful traditional children's song. It's a refreshing counterpart to Joy Division, while it also effectively emphasizes the two characters' differences.
