Write a short summary of what happens in the film
After winning an online sports bet, a son sends his mother on an elevator ride, which speeds up and takes off through all the floors of the building, to the first class of a plane.
A spectacular climb that causes quite a bit of damage along the way and an emotional ride for the mother until she settles into the plane at the height of her happiness. A smashing and powerful epic adventure with a touch of humor to the sound of Elvis' If I Can Dream.
Tell the jury about the innovation and advancements used during production. You may wish to comment on the inventive use of new or existing technology to enhance the final execution.
We created our magical elevator, the different floors, apartments and
corridors in a studio so that we have the most control over the look and feel of each
room, but also so that we can create a lot of the visual disruption and destruction for
real. Using as a reference The Hunt For Red October and Inception, we raised our sets up off the ground, and putting some sort of mechanical springs or hydraulics under the flooring, to make them physically shake in-camera. We rotated our floor level 90 degrees for some scenes – for example, when filming inside.
Thus, we employed a combination of in-camera and post-production Visual FX in order to
give this epic, surreal idea the spectacular visual scale it deserves.
