Write a short summary of what happens in the film
In a time where everything you can invest in pretty much anything - from the stupidest product idea *cough* fidget spinners *cough* to the most unrealistic startup idea (like selling collapsible and reusable travel straws) - on crowdfuding sites, we asked ourselves: is it also possible to buy world peace?
Kickstart World Peace is a film dealing with the idea of putting a price on world peace, and letting the world become co-investors of it. The film discusses how much world peace potentially could cost and what it would take to reach that amount.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
Crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and its peers have throughout the years grown to become an alternative to the traditional venture capitalist investor. Every year, millions and millions of dollars are being invested into projects on the sites. And a lot of times, the ideas are quite... stupid. On the list of successful campaigns that have reached their goals are things like high-tech drink coolers, collapsible and reusable travel straws and a giant inflatable sculpture of Lionel Richie's head.
Meanwhile, even though conflicts are rising all over the world, people aren't donating enough money to peace organisations. Svenska Freds, the world's oldest peace organisation established in Sweden 1883, have been looking for an idea that helps them get more donations while still building their brand as a progressive organisation. And we did it by switching the perspective from asking people for donations, to telling them to become co-investors of peace instead.
