Write a short summary of what happens in the film
In the wild grass, a little girl wearing a t-shirt and shorts, crouching her way to the top of a green mound, on top of which, stands proudly a bottle of Perrier Fines Bulles.
On the opposite side of the mound, a baby lion cub does the same.
Arriving at the top, they find themselves face to face with the bottle of Perrier Fines Bulles. The lion cub opens its mouth wide and lets out the incredible roar of a ferocious lion. Like in the original film, the little girl retaliates by opening her mouth excessively letting out her own loud cry, pointing her finger beckoning the lion cub to flee. Cut.
Standing at the top of the mound, the little girl gleefully drinks the bottle of Perrier Fines Bulles.
‘All the Extraordinaire of Perrier with small bubbles.’
Cultural/Context information for the jury
The original ‘Lion’ TV spot is Perrier’s most renowned and beloved commercial in France, winner of the Grand Prix (Film) in Cannes in 1991. It remains, as of today, part of advertising folklore and became over the year an iconic piece of pop culture. Music is also key in the memorability, the simple fact of humming the 3 starting notes of “I put a spell on you” is usually enough to make people remember the ad.
The study we ran with Kantar TNS ended up proving this with 1 on 2 French people considering the “Lion” TV spot as the most memorable ad of their generation.
