Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The film documents the experiment, the world’s first dialogue between an animal and humans. As people put on a VR headset, a rabbit welcomes them into a virtual world to talk about life. Together they visit different virtual locations, from a peaceful forest to an animal testing laboratory and slaughterhouse. Nothing is scripted. Everything is open. During the natural flowing dialogue people completely forget that they are talking to a virtual creature. They open up and talk about their beliefs, personal loss, fears and hopes. And they listen. Emotionally touched by the rabbit’s message, the users state that they will rethink their consumer behaviour. Finally, the users receive a virtual letter from the rabbit. As they then take off their VR headsets, they find a physical letter in front of them, a compassionate plea for the value of life. In that moment the virtual and real world become one.
Cultural/Context information for the jury
PETA’s logo is a bunny – and for good reason. Rabbits are exploited for food, clothing, experimentation, hunting and entertainment. That’s why the rabbit stands for the billions of animal victims every year. For this reason, a rabbit is the perfect ambassador for animal rights.
