Cultural/Context information for the jury

Task Our customer BMW Security Vehicles produces armoured vehicles for civilian use. We were commissioned to develop a brochure to promote the models and their security levels to the elite target group of business people, diplomats and politicians. Idea The Bulletproof Brochure. A brochure that is also a bulletproof vest. Solution We turned safety into a hands-on design element. We tackled the many technical challenges in collaboration with experts from a wide range of different fields. For example, we had to combine aesthetic appeal with functionality and have the National Firing Proof House certify that the vest was bulletproof up to 9 mm bullets, and ensuring pleasant wear comfort. The result is a unique design that combines traditional bookbinding craftsmanship with the very latest high-tech materials. The hand-made brochures were not only highly effective at sales talks, they also became a talking point at the Munich Security Conference.
